About Gridco
A provider of advanced power electronics products for electricity distribution, is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. In this position you will be part of a team designing, developing and implementing of the next generation power conversion products in the electrical utility distribution arena.
Responsibilities
Design and implement high power (50 KW and higher) single and three phase converters
Perform circuit simulations using Altium Designer, Matlab/Simulink, MathCad, PSIM.
Coordinate with project managers, mechanical engineers, mechanical designers, and system architect.
Document physical design including schematics and Bills of Material for PCB design.
Conduct internal design reviews.
Calculate component stresses.
Design magnetic devices as required.
Manage thermal issues.
Skills and Competencies
BSEE (MSEE/PhD preferred) with 3-5 years related experience in Active front end, Power factor correction and motor drives. Experience with Grid-tied devices preferred.
Experience designing AC DC power conversion systems.
Must be able to work in a lab environment to conduct component and system level testing. Ability to use conventional test equipment such as oscilloscope, power meters etc.
Hardware design from concept through to production including component selection, test, prototype build and debug, regulatory and certification approvals, production integration and ongoing support.
Able to carry a design task from concept to implementation. Hands on hardware development experience - analog and digital and electromechanical devices. Must have knowledge of microprocessor based power converters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation. Ability to create engineering requirements, document, test plans and specification.
Experienced with CAD tools for schematic capture, simulation and layout
Experience working closely with multi-functional team.
Thorough knowledge of Altium Designer, MathCad, (MATLAB a plus).
Thorough knowledge of how to meet regulatory requirements including EMC.
Knowledge of Medium Voltage drives is a plus.
Experience with TI C28x processor family is a plus.
Education
Minimum BSEE; MSEE/PhD preferredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
